Home Practice Matters!

Speech therapy sessions are incredibly important — but what happens between sessions matters just as much. A helpful way to think about speech therapy is to imagine your child’s speech-language pathologist as a personal trainer at the gym.
A Speech Therapist Is Like a Personal Trainer
A personal trainer:
Shows you the right exercises
Makes sure you’re doing them correctly
Adjusts the plan based on progress
Encourages and supports you
But if you only go to the gym once a week and never practice in between, it’s hard to see real change. Speech therapy works the same way. Your SLP teaches your child the right skills and strategies during sessions, but practice at home is what helps those skills stick and grow.
Why Home Practice Makes Such a Big Difference
Builds stronger skills faster
Helps skills carry over into real life
Reduces pressure during sessions
Creates confidence
