Errorless learning is a teaching approach in which the communication partner structures activities so the learner is highly likely to respond correctly from the very start. Instead of allowing repeated mistakes and correcting them after, the SLP provides immediate prompts, models, or supports to prevent errors from occurring in the first place. Supports are then gradually faded as the learner gains independence.
Many of our clients—especially those with language delays, apraxia, autism, intellectual disabilities, or memory and attention challenges—benefit from repeated success. When errors are minimized, the brain is more likely to encode the correct response rather than practicing mistakes.
